Invitation for Contractors to Tender for Rehabilitation and Construction Projects

1.0.         Preamble

The University is desirous of rehabilitating and construction of some projects in her bid to enhance the existing and proposed structures in the campus. In this regard, the University is inviting suitably qualified Contractors with proven track records in construction tor Tender for project implementation.

Interested Contractors with the notable experience are therefore invited to bid in respect of the implementation.

2.0. Brief Description of the Project

1.       Concrete Drainages and Channelization of Faculty of Pharmacy (Internal and External Drainage System)

• Construction of Drainage (Internal and External) channels and inter locking tiles at the faculty Building and Courtyard

2.           Proposed   June   12   Shopping   Centre,   Ugbowo Campus

• The works comprise the erection of a 24Nos. Shopping stores.
• The total area of the Building is 646Sq metres, with an overall height of 6.00m.
• The building is framed with reinforced concrete columns and beams.
• The walling is carried out with 225mm sandcrete hollow block work.
• The roof is an Oven-baked (coloured) long span aluminum roofing sheets on carcassing timber framework.
• The windows are generally powder coated aluminum frame products with reflective glass glazing, while the Doors are single swinged metal frame.
• The walls are generally plastered and finished internally/ externally with vinyl matt Emulsion paint.
• The ceiling areas are finished with flat PVC ceiling strips.
• The engineering   service   is   mainly plumbing and  electrical installations.
• The general external works comprise soil and waste drainage.

3.       Proposed Primary School Extension, Ekehuan Campus

• The works comprise the erection and completion of 10- Classrooms and conveniences.
• The total area of the building is 1530Sq. metres with an overall height of 6.00m.
• The classes is framed with reinforced concrete columns and roof beams.
• The walling is carried out with 225mm sandcrete hollow block work.
• The roof is a Step-Tiles (coloured) aluminum roofing on timber carcassing framed members.
• The windows are generally powder coated aluminum frame products with reflective glass glazing, while the Doors are either Hardwood or metal panel.
• The walls are generally plastered and finished internally/externally with vinyl matt Emulsion/ Texcote paint with the exception of the wet areas which are finished with ceramic wall tiles to height of 2.10 metres.
• The ceiling is finished with flat PVC ceiling strips.
• The engineering service is mainly plumbing and electrical installations.
• The general external works comprise soil and waste drainage.

4.0. Bidding Criteria

• Company profile showing organizational charts, names and resume of key Administrative and Technical officers and phone numbers. Academic and professional qualifications of the officers will be added advantage
• Evidence of incorporation with Corporate Affairs Commission.
• Registration with constructing bodies like the Federal Ministry of Works. Registration in category “A” with the University of Benin will be of added advantage.
• Evidence of Tax Clearance for the year 2010, 2011, and 2012. Audited Account for the years 2010, 2011, 2012.
• Provision of VAT Certificate.
• Evidence of Financial capabilities of possible assistance from your bank.
• List of verified similar projects previously handled by you in the last five years. You must clearly describe the listed projects, stating their clients, date of award, project duration, date of completing and cost. Copy of award letter, photographs and completion certificates are necessary.
• Listing of Unverifiable projects may result in disqualification.
• List of verifiable plants and equipment owned by your organization.
• Evidence of ownership will be added advantage.
• Listing of unverifiable equipment may result in disqualification.
• Health and safety policy of your organization.
• Evidence of your involvement in the development of your community and University of Benin.
• Evidence of compliance with PENCOM Act 2004
• Details of all litigation cases on previous construction projects.

5.0.    Submission of Document

Your Tender documents must be sealed in an envelope and addressed to:

P.M.B. 1145, Benin City.

The top left corner shall bear the lot and name of the project for which you are applying for pre-qualification e.g. “CONCRETE DRAINAGE AND CHANNELIZATION OF FACULTY OF PHARMACY (INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL DRAINAGE SYSTEM)”

Document shall be submitted in a special Tender box provided in room 41 Block B Central Administration Building (Registrar’s Office Building) not later than Monday 21^st October, 2013.

6.0.    Deadline for Submission

The documents shall be submitted not later than 12.00noon, Monday, 21″

October, 2013.

7.0.    Opening of Documents

The Documents shall be opened at 2.00pm on Monday, 21^st October, 2013 after receipt in the University Senate Chambers. All bidders are expected to attend. Interested members of the public and journalist are invited to witness the opening activities.
