Niger Delta M&E Baseline Assessment
Stakeholder Democracy Network has operated in the Niger Delta for over eight years. Its mission is to support the efforts of those affected by extractive industries and weak governance through rights – based community employment. We strive to protect human rights and demand responsive governance. SDN’s two organizational pillars of research and advocacy, supported by our two core tools of capacity building and pilot projects, help facilitate communities and civil society to communicate a shared vision and negotiate with other stakeholders to get a better deal from the investments and operations that affect their livelihoods and environment.
SON has identified several spot-like issues that we believe represent the major issues of long-held grievances in the Niger Delta: Oil Spills, Gas Flaring, Energy Justice, Demoralization, Responsive Governance, Women’s Rights and Urban Justice.
SDN is seeking a Nigerian survey firm to conduct an M&E Baseline Assessment including household surveys, focus group discussions, and key informational interviews, in Bayelsa, Delta, and Rivers States. The proposed survey will address public attitudes towards the social contract, as well as domestic social and political issues. SON is seeking a Nigerian survey firm with experience in conducting qualitative and quantitative assessments in the Niger Delta for this purpose.
Survey Contractor Responsibilities
The Survey Firm will be responsible for the following:
- Start-up: finalize budget, establish timeline, finalize survey tools, etc.
- Pilot: train staff, conduct pilot, review and adjust
- Fieldwork: conduct four week survey in three states, enter and manage data
- Completion, submit final reports
