Invitation for Pre-Qualification of Contractors
- Preamble:
Approval has been granted to the Cross River State Universal Basic Education Board by Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) to carry out construction works and supply of classroom furniture in some selected Primary and Junior Secondary Schools across the State.
The works include renovation/rehabilitation of existing dilapidated school buildings, construction of new classrooms and lavatory, as well as, supply of furniture under the UBEC 2011 Matching Grant Intervention Fund.
Accordingly, applications for pre-qualification of contractors are invited from reputable, qualified and interested companies registered by the Cross River State Due Process and Price Intelligence Bureau (DPPIB) in the categories E and above. 2. Scope of Work:
Lot 1: i) Construction of new classroom blocks.
ii) Construction of Lavatory
iii) Renovation/rehabilitation of dilapidated existing classroom blocks
Lot 2: i) Supply of classroom furniture.
- Criteria for Pre-Qualification of Contractors:
To qualify for pre-qualification, the interested Companies should submit 2 copies of their updated profiles with the following documents;
- Evidence of incorporation of company or business name.
- Registration with Cross River State Due Process and Price
- Intelligence Bureau (DPPIB) in the relevant category.
- Company Audited Accounts for the past three (3) years (2011-2013).
- VAT registration and evidence of remittances
- Current Company Tax clearance certificate.
- Evidence of financial capability and Bank support/Statement of Account.
- Experience (Technical qualification and experience of key personnel).
- Evidence of Registration of Key Technical Personnel with Relevant Professional regulatory Bodies.
- Equipment/technological capacity
- Knowledge of the industry/similar projects executed in the past
- Annual turnover of company.
- Names of two (2) Directors of company.
- Publication of Pre-Qualification Result/Invitation to Bid:
The pre-qualified list of companies shall be published in the notice board of State Universal Basic Education Board, on or before 17th July 2014 after the close of applications for pre-qualification. Bidding documents shall be issued to only successful companies.
- Mode of Submission/Deadline of Application:
All applications for pre-qualification of contractors are to be submitted in sealed envelopes measuring 29.5 x 36.5cm marked “Pre-Qualification,” at the top right corner according to the Lots specified above and addressed to:-

The applications must reach the PRS Department, Block 2 Room 9 on or before Tuesday, 12th August, 2014 at 12.00 noon. The register for the receipt of application will close at 12.00 noon of the day under reference, while, the opening of applications will commence same day at 1.30pm.
All applicants making submission must sign a register in the office of the Director, Department of Planning, Research & Statistics for proof of receipt of their applications.
Note:
Notwithstanding the submission of applications for pre-qualification by contractors, the Board is not obliged to include your company in the final list of qualified companies nor shall any form of compensation be paid for responding to this advertisement. Only short-listed companies shall be allowed to bid for the works.
