Invitation for Pre-Qualification for Contractors
1.0 Preamble
The University of Benin is desirous of implementing some Projects to be financed from the Needs Assessment Project Funds
Consequently, the University of Benin is to prequalify reputable Contractors to bid for the implementation of the Projects.
Interested Contractors with experience in building construction are hereby requested to submit their Company Profiles for consideration.
2.0 Brief Description of Projects
(A) Construction of New Facility-Lecture Theatres and Lecture Rooms:
1. Proposed Construction and Furnishing of Lecture Theatre and Office Complex
(B) Construction of New Facility-Hostel:
2. Proposed Construction and Furnishing of 2No Male Hostel
3. Proposed Construction and Furnishing of Female Hostel
4. Proposed Construction and Furnishing of Postgraduate Hostel
(C) Construction of New Facility-Laboratory and Library:
5. Proposed Construction and Furnishing of Library Complex

4.0 Bidding Criteria
Your company should show the following:
- Organizational Structure, Names and Resume of Key Administrative/Technical Officers and their Phone Numbers. Certificate of Academic & Professional qualifications of the Officers will be of added advantage.
- Evidence of incorporation with Corporate Affairs Commission.
- Registration with the relevant contracting Bodies, Registration in Category “A” with the University of Benin.
- Evidence of Tax Clearance Certificate for the last three (03) years (2011,2012,2013).
- Provision of Company’ VAT Certificates.
- Evidence of Company’s Financial Capability or possible assistance from your Bank.
- List of verifiable similar Projects previously handled by your Company in the last five years. You must clearly describe the listed Projects, stating Clients, dates of award, Project duration, dates of completion and cost, copies of Letters of Award, Photographs and completion Certificates are necessary. Listing of unverifiable Projects may result in disqualification.
- Health and Safety Policy of the Organization.
- Evidence of involvement in the development of your Community or the University of Benin.
- Evidence of previous legal actions, a report describing reasons and outcome of case(s) will be added advantages.
- Evidence of Compliance with Industrial Training Fund (ITF) Act No. 19 of 2011.
- Evidence of Compliance with PFNCOM Act. 2004.
5.0 Submission
Your tender documents must be in sealed envelope and addressed to:

The top hand corner shall bear the name of the project for which you are applying for example: “Proposed 500 Hostel (Male and Female) with complete furnishing”
The documents shall be dropped in a tender box that shall be supplied for this purpose in Central Administration Office Block B (Registrar’s Office) Room 41.
6.0 Deadline for Submission
The document shall be submitted not later than 12 noon on 3rd March, 2014.
7.0 Opening of tender Documents
The pre-qualification documents shall be opened immediately after 12:00 noon on submission, in the University Senate Chambers on the 3rd March, 2014. All bidders are expected to attend. Interested Members of the Public and Private sector professional in the Construction Industries, Non-Governmental Organization and Journalists are invited to witness the opening of the bids.

Please Note
- The Tender fee is non-refundable
- The University of Benin is neither obliged to shortlist any Contractor or to award the Contract to any Contractor or his agent.
- The University reserves the right to reject any bid.
- The University will only contact successful pre-qualified Contractors to partake in the commercial tendering of the Project.
- The University will not enter into any form of correspondence with Bidding Contractors.
