Request for Expression of Interest
The MTN Nigeria Foundation Limited by Guarantee (MTNF Ltd/Gte) was established by MTN Nigeria Communications Limited, in July 2004 to drive MTN Nigeria’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives aimed at improving the quality of life in communities across the country.
PROJECT DESCRIPTION AND LOCATIONS
The MTNF recognises the importance of empowering persons with disabilities and as such has successfully implemented four phases of the MTNF Disability Support Project (MTNF DSP) since inception in 2009 till date across 36 states and the FCT.
Following the outcome of the evaluation conducted on the earlier phases of the project, MTNF will empower more persons with disabilities who had never benefited from the project before.
SCOPE OF WORK
As such, the fifth phase of the MTNF DSP will be implemented across the following states: Abia, Bauchi, Edo, Enugu, Gombe, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Rivers, Ogun, Ondo and Zamfara.
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The MTN Foundation seeks to support persons with disability by providing them with various mobility aids and appliances which will ultimately improve the quality of their lives.
The following categories of Mobility Aids and Appliances will be distributed:

2 | Visual Impairment | Guide Canes, Braille Machines and Kits, Stylus and Mar Bugs, Solar Laptop Computers and Talking Phones |
3 | Hearing Impairment | Hearing Aids (Battery Inclusive) |
In addition to the provision of these Items and to ensure project sustainability, MTN Foundation will train project personnel on how to repair these appliances, as well as train the users/beneficiaries on how to useand maintain their respective mobility aids.
The MTN Foundation now invites submission of Expressions of Interest from:
- Special Homes;
- Integrated Schools;
- Institutions and;
- Association of persons with disabilities from the states listed above.
Expressions of Interest should be done by the above listed types of organisations on behalf of persons with disabilities in their care. However, following the application and verification, appropriate disability aids and appliances will be given directly to the end users only.
Based on the quantities available, hearing aids will also be given to selected candidates who have been tested by the project audiologist and confirmed suitable.
BENEFICIARY SELECTION PROCESS AND CRITERIA:
To qualify for consideration, applicants must:
- Be persons with disabilities;
- Reside in one of the states listed above;
- Be willing to participate in the Vulnerability Index Assessment (a set of criteria used to measure groups of people who are most likely to be at risk);
- Provide contact details for two persons (name, address, telephone no, e-mail if available) through whom the beneficiary can be reached.
- Provide 2 passport size photographs required for identification purposes.
Recipients of the mobility aids and appliances will be notified via text messages following verification.
APPLICATION PROCESS:
Interested Special Homes, Integrated Schools, Federal & State Teaching Hospitals, State General Hospitals and Association of persons with disabilities from the states listed above should collect application forms from the Project Field Officers through the Social Welfare Offices of the Ministries of Women Affairs and the Local Government Area Offices in the following target States – Abia, Bauchi, Edo, Enugu, Gombe, Katsina, Kogi, Kwara, Rivers, Ogun, Ondo and Zamfara
Please attach 2 passport photographs of the prospective beneficiary to the completed application form.
Completed application forms should be forwarded ON OR BEFORE 30TH JULY, 2014 , to the Project Held Officers in the State Welfare the Ministries of Women Affairs and the Local Government Area Offices in the mentioned states.
