The West Africa Agricultural Productivity Program Nigeria (WAAPP) is seeking the services of a vendor for a Private sector Led Skills acquisition Program to provide Capacity Building to local fabricators of agricultural equipment with a view towards improving agricultural productivity in Nigeria,
The West Africa Agricultural Productivity Program (WAAPP) is a five-year program initiated by ECOWAS and funded largely by the World Bank. It is part of the World Bank’s plan for the implementation of Africa Action Plan (AAP) aimed at supporting regional integration and making agriculture more sustainably productive.
WAAPP’s major objective is to generate and disseminate improved technologies in the participating countries’ top priority areas that are aligned with the region’s top priorities; which aims at strengthening and promoting the mechanisms and procedures for the dissemination of agricultural technology.
Background and Purpose
To provide local Nigerian fabricators with training in producing pre and post harvest agricultural equipment and to make these equipment available to producing communities in other to enhance increased agricultural productivity.
Project Objectives
(1) To develop the capacities of the local fabricators to re-produce already engineered and commercialized agricultural implements.
(2) To select such equipment which, when produced and introduced to local farmers at reasonable costs, would increase their productivity
(3) To integrate the use of appropriate technologies in Agricultural production processes for the purposes of reducing drudgery, increasing output, modernizing agricultural activities and increasing school-leavers participation in Agriculture by making its activities attractive and less cumbersome.
Scope of Work
The selected organization shall identify and select the ultimate target beneficiaries and the participating metal fabricators for the training workshop based on clearly specified selection criteria.
The selected organization shall make a selection of the different equipment to be produced based on the capability of the selected equipment to achieve die desired objective within die core intervention areas of WAAPP.
The selected organization shall identify resource persons/institutions that will be engaged to collaborate in the training of the fabricators for the reproduction of the models that will be made available to the farmers.
The selected organization shall make determination and recommendation for the location of the training workshop which will be selected based on the capacity of the institution/organization to furnish the required tools, equipment and workshop for the training exercise.
The selected organization shall organize and supervise the implementation of the training workshop.
The selected organization shall provide detailed reporting on the project.
Submissions
Qualified organization are requested to respond with a proposal indicating the following:
(1) Methodology to achieve the project objectives
(2) Budget
(3) Institutions that will collaborate in the Training and Skill acquisition program
(4) Listings of the type of equipment the organization intends to train the fabricators on, to achieve the desired results
(5) Indicate the locations for the training and available resource persons and equipment
Special Considerations
Funding preference will go to organizations that are able to provide a detailed proposal which clearly indicates their methodology as well as targeted agricultural equipment that match WAAPP’s focus areas in Nigeria.
