Registration of National and International Non-Governmental Organizations Carrying Out Humanitarian Activities in Nigeria
Introduction
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) is an Agency of the Federal Government established by Act 12 as amended by Act 50 of 1999 and saddled with the responsibility of managing disasters in all its ramifications including:
(i) Formulation of Policy on all activities relating to disaster management in Nigeria and to co-ordinate the plans and programmes for efficient and effective response to disaster at national level;
(ii) Monitoring the state of preparedness of all organizations or agencies which may contribute to disaster management in Nigeria; and
(iii) Coordination of activities of all voluntary organizations engaged in emergency relief operations in any part of the Federation.
In a bid to actualize the above mandate, NEMA wishes to carryout the mapping of all National -international Non-Governmental Organisations engaged in humanitarian activities in the country, so as to ensure effective coordination with other key partners as part of the national and sub-national humanitarian coordination platforms
In pursuance of this objective, NEMA hereby invites relevant NGOs and i-NGOs that have capability to carry out or have been carrying out humanitarian activities across the country to formally register with the Agency as one of the conditions precedent to carrying out such activities in Nigeria.
Conditions for Registration
Concerned NGOs and i-NGOs are required to forward information about their organization to the Agency. This information should contain the following:
(a) Certificate of Incorporation;
(b) Company Profile to include vision, mission, objectives, areas of operation, telephone number(s), e-mail address(es);
(c) Activities carried out and/or are intended to be carried out;
(d) Names and addresses of Board/Trustee members and current executives; and
(e) Bank details in Nigeria.
Method of Registration
All relevant information shall be submitted in a properly sealed and secured envelope and boldly written “REGISTRATION OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL NON GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS WITH NEMA’’ and should be appropriately addressed to:

All documents must be submitted not later than 2nd March, 2015
Thus, the submission will be closed by 10a.m. on Monday March 2, 2015.
