Public Display Exercise on the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) of the Proposed Trans-Nigeria Gas Pipeline Project: Early Gas Phase (Cawthorne Channel-Alakiri-Obigbo NODE-NOPL and OB3) by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in Rivers State
In accordance with provisions of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Act, CAP El2 LFN 2004, which makes it mandatory for proponents of all new major development activities to carry out Environmental Impact Assessment of their proposed projects, the Federal Ministry of Environment hereby announces a Twenty-One (21) working days Public Notice for information and comments on the draft EIA report submitted by Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)

Project Description:
The proposed project will involve the looping of an existing pipeline from SPDC gas plant at Cawthrone channel through Alakiri to Obigbo Node, and the laying of a new gas pipeline from Obigbo compression station to OB3. The project will traverse nine (9) LGAs in Rivers State as highlighted above.
