Invitation for Pre-Qualification
Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) is one of the eleven Distribution Companies privatized by the Federal Government of Nigeria as part of the power sector reform program implementation. Located in the North West zone of Nigeria, the company has license to distribute and market electricity in the four states of Kano, Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara. (KEDCO) is desirous of inviting bids from Nigerian registered insurance Brokers for Insurances of its Assets, Personnel and operational risks.
All interested Insurance Brokers to be considered for appointment MUST satisfy as a minimum, the following conditions, approved by the National Insurance Commission (NAICOM):
(A) Be a Limited Liability Company incorporated in Nigeria and licensed by the National Insurance Commission to operates as an Insurance Broker.
(B) Have verifiable full time employees with cognate experience in the relevant classes of Insurance
(C) Must have verifiable locational addresses in Nigeria.
(D) Maintain adequate Professional Indemnity cover for its activities
(E) Be a good Corporate citizen that pays its taxes as at when due and be in possession of current Tax Clearance Certificate.
(F) Have complied with the provisions of the Pension Reform Act
2004
Qualified Insurance Brokers willing to apply must apply in compliance with the Public Procurement Act, 2007. Do so by submitting the following documents;
(1) Original Certified True Copy by the Corporate Affairs Commission of the Company’s Certificate of Registration.
(2) Original Certified True Copy by National Insurance Commission of the Company’s current license to operate as an Insurance Broker.
(3) Evidence of participating in the brokerage of firm/s within the power sector in Nigeria
(4) Company’s Published Audited Accounts for the years ended 2014, 2013, and 2012.
(5) Certified True Copy by the Federal Inland Revenue Service or Notary Public or Commissioner of Oaths of: (A) Three years tax clearance certificates (Receipts not acceptable). (B) Current VAT registration
(6) A profit of two (2) top management staff and at least three (3) technical staff of the company with their qualification and insurance working experience
(7) Certificate of Compliance with the provisions of the Employee Compensation Act 2010 issued by Nigeria Social insurance Trust Fund.
(8) A statement signed by the Company’s Chief Executive Officer of its staff strength and locational addresses.
(9) Certificate of Insurance in respect of current Professional Indemnity cover.
(10) Certificate of compliance with the provisions of the Pension Reform Act. 2004 issued by the Pension Commission.
(11) Group Life Assurance Certificate for its staff in compliance with the Pension Reforms Act 2004.
(12) Evidence of compliance with the provisions of industrial Trust Fund Act, 2011 issued by Industrial Training Fund.

All Submissions should reach the above addressed by 12.00NOON (Nigeria Time) on or before Wednesday, 11th March 2015.
This notice and pre-qualification process shall not place any commitment on KEDCO nor establish any legal relationship whatsoever with any bidder. No communication will be entered into with any unsuccessful bidder.
