Supporting the Strengthening of Ward Health Committees in Lagos State
The Partnership for Transforming Health Services (PATHS2) project is a 6-year national program funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) to lead health systems strengthening efforts in Nigeria.
PATHS2 is supporting Lagos State Government partners to strengthen Ward Health Committees (WHCs) in the State. The aim of the work is to transform Ward Health Committees into community driven for a, which work together and with other stakeholders (health facility staff, LGA officials, PHCB, SMOH officials etc.) to improve primary health services and promote client satisfaction.
PATHS2 is seeking to engage the services of reputable CSOs who will partner with the Lagos State Government as part of the Team to support the strengthening of Ward Health Committees.
Expected Outputs:
- WHCs and other community entities constituted;
- WHCs workplan developed and monitored by CSOs;
- Clear evidence of LGAs, PHC Board and overseeing bodies providing a response to concerns raised by WHCs and other community entities
Specific Tasks:
(1) Support establishment of WHCs and identification of other community bodies
(2) Conduct training of WHCs and other identified community bodies
(3) Plan and conduct the step-down training for WHCs
(4) Provide mentoring support to WHCs through regular visits to the community
(5) Collect required monitoring data during WHC visits, using the format supplied
(6) Submit regular narrative and financial reports to the PHC Board and PATHS2
Expected Timeline: February 2015 to July 2016
