Invitation for Expression of Interest: Provision of Water/Borehole Systems in PATHS2 Supported health Facilities in Enugu State
The Partnership for Transforming Health Services (PATHS2) project is a 6-year national program funded by the UK’s Department for International Development (DFID) to lead health systems strengthening efforts in Nigeria.
The PATHS2 project has developed a service delivery strategy which seeks to work with the State Ministry of Health (SMOH) and other partners to support amongst other interventions, limited infrastructural upgrades that include the provision of potable water to selected health facilities that will enable them meet the minimum quality standard for infrastructure. This will also ensure they are able to provide quality BEOC services in line with the focus of PATHS2 to develop BEOC facilities as Centres of Excellence.
PATHS2 is therefore seeking the services of a mechanical engineering firm to support the provision of water to selected cluster health facilities in Enugu State. This work will involve the drilling of new boreholes, repair of broken down water systems and construction of plumbing systems that will ensure that water is linked to the health facility.
Expected Outputs:
- Boreholes in selected facilities constructed or repaired according to laid down standards as certified by the supervising consultant
- Repaired/constructed borehole is linked to the facility
- Water supply to the key parts of the Health facility functional
Specific Tasks:
- Conduct a geophysical survey to determine the appropriate site and depth for the borehole to be drilled and drill the borehole
- Inspect, recommend and carry out necessary repairs to existing boreholes in facilities where they are available
- Provide storage facility that will store 2000 litres of water generated from the borehole and connect water storage facility to the hospital service delivery points
- Preparation of a workable maintenance schedule for the boreholes in the facility.
