PURPOSE
Pact Nigeria announces the availability of funding for local, non-governmental, community and/or faith-based organizations (NGOs/CBOs/FBOs) as partners to implement the Strengthening Accountability for Quality Improvement Project (SAQIP) in Gombe state, Nigeria.
SAQIP seeks to achieve quality improvement in maternal neonatal and child health (MNCH) via three primary outcomes:
(1) Improved governance capacity and performance of the public health system;
(2) Improved accountability and community participation in the public health system; and
(3) Increased utilization of public MNCH services.
The purpose of this Expression of Interest (EOI) is to identify suitable and qualified NGOs/CBOs/FBOs who will work with us on Empowering Mother’s Groups at the community level in order to increase the utilization of public maternal neonatal child health (MNCH) services under the SAQIP project. If your organization is interested, complete the questionnaire below and submit an electronic copy to the specified email address.
What type of organization are we looking to fund?
Only legally registered non-governmental organizations, community-based organizations or faith-based organizations that are currently implementing activities in relation to economic and social empowerment in Gombe state are eligible. Organizations must have a physical existence in Gombe state. Partnerships between NGOs/FBOs/CBOs and/or NGO networks are strongly encouraged.
Targeted geographic area: Gombe State, Nigeria.
Brief Overview of the Project
SAQIP is a six (6) year Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation-funded project to be implemented in Gombe state with start-up in 4 LGAs, namely: Gombe, Dukku, Yemaltu Deba, and Kaltungo with scale up in the other 11 LGAs in the first 3 years of the project. It targets the State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Local Government Area Health Teams, Primary Health Centres, Ward Development Committee (WDC), and members of the Mothers’ Groups who will be women of child bearing age residing in rural communities.

Please note that this is neither a Request for Application (RFA) nor a commitment from Pact Nigeria to fund any organization that responds by sending an Expression of Interest. Pact Nigeria will release a detailed Request for Application (RFA) in February, 2015. The RFA will be disseminated to all pre-qualified organization who may submit full proposals for consideration.
