Maternal, Newborn and Child Health Programme (MNCH 2)
The Maternal Newborn and Child Health Programme (MNCH2) is a UK government funded five year country led programme which aims to reduce maternal and child mortality in northern Nigeria. The programme, which runs from 2014 to 2019, is being implemented in six states in northern Nigeria namely Jigawa, Kaduna, Katsina, Kano, Yobe and Zamfara.
A key area of MNCH2 work focuses on encouraging citizens to voice their experiences of, and concerns with health services, and to place pressure through effective advocacy on government to be more responsive and accountable in their delivery This is done through a numbers of ways including the following for which this request for proposals relates to:
(1) Establishment of facility Health Committees (FHCs) as a mechanism to promote citizen voice and enable greater accountability of Government and health providers to service users.
(2) Implementation of the Community Score Card tool as a means of enabling communities to provide feedback to their local health facilities and health decision makers at local and state government levels.
MNCH2 plans to Implement the above work-streams through grants and hereby invites interested registered Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to apply.
To qualify, CSOs must have the following skills:

CSOs must have the following skills:
- Experience working within the programme states
- Knowledge of the benefits and challenges of community participation in health in the programme states. Previous experience working with facility Health Committees is an added advantage
- Knowledge of supply and demand side barriers to health services
- Familiarity with the State and local government health systems
- Training and facilitation skills
- Mentoring and monitoring skills
- Ability to analyse problems, identify the root causes, generate solutions and implement action plans
- Experience in building alliances between different individuals and groups
- Experience/Ability to work with different partners, including communities, service providers, local and state government officials within the
- Excellent presentation and writing skills
- Proof of financial capacity to manage these grants

Closing date for submission is 27th January 2015 and all EOIs must be submitted not later than 5.00pm of that date.
