Introduction
The Government of Nigeria with the assistance of the UNDP has secured funding through the Global Environment Facility (GEF) to implement a Biodiversity Conservation Project in the Niger Delta region. The project engages over a five year period with a goal to contribute to the conservation and sustainable use of globally significant biological diversity in the Niger Delta.
The project’s main objective is “to mainstream biodiversity management priorities into the Niger Delta oil and gas (O&G) sector development policies and operations. “The project will bring improved biodiversity management to these areas indirectly and directly, respectively, as measured by improved state of globally significant species and ecosystems, legal and policy frameworks that incorporate biodiversity objectives, and O&G companies adopting best practice for biodiversity actions.
In view of this, the project is seeking reputable individuals/firms to assist to carry out the following consultancy services for the project.
Activity 1: Strengthen the capacity of key government institutions to assess and mitigate the risks and threats to biodiversity in the Niger-Delta Area
Activity 2: Digital cartographic representation of selected and specific infrastructures in identified conservation areas in the Niger Delta Region.
Activity 3: Establishment of a Niger Delta Biodiversity Trust Fund
Activity 4: Development of a strategy for biodiversity conservation collaboration among identified stakeholders in the Niger Delta
Scope of Work
- The consulting individuals/firms/institute would be required to do a thorough overview of all the expected objectives as listed above in relation to international best practices.
- Debriefing and validation meetings and workshops where appropriate to stakeholders and other bilateral organizations
Time Frame:
14 weeks from signing of contract
Qualification
- Reputable individual/firm/institute with a experience and work in the area of environment energy, ecosystems and GIS in Nigeria
- In case of firms/institutes, resumes of personnel should be included in the proposal
Submission of Proposals
Interested individuals should submit in two (2) envelopes their proposals in each lot property labelled (e.g, Activity 1 or Activity 2) the first, a technical proposal showing the planned methodology and approach on how they intend on completing the assignment and the second the financial proposal for the assignment
The technical part of the proposal should include previous experiences and certificates of company registration in cases where firms are applying. Completed proposals in PDF format (pdf) should be submitted quoting the above reference/activity number to the email above below not later than 7th August, 2014.
